How to Ask the Right Questions during an Interview or College Application

When you’re applying for a job or a course, it’s easy to feel like all the questions come from the other side. But the process works both ways. Asking the right questions helps you judge if an employer or institution will actually support you. 

Here are a few examples you can use: 

For jobs 

• How does your organisation provide workplace adjustments for employees? 
• Is remote or hybrid work an option for this role? 
• What employee networks or supports exist for staff with disabilities? 

For education 

• What accessibility supports are in place for online and in-person classes? 
• How does the disability office handle requests for assistive technology? 
• Are lecture recordings, captions, or transcripts available as standard? 

These questions aren’t just about access. They show that you are proactive, informed, and serious about finding the right fit. 

Asking them also sends a message: inclusion matters to you, and it should matter to them.
