Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD)
This is one of the primary support mechanisms for students with disabilities in higher
education. The fund is allocated to universities and colleges to provide necessary services and equipment to students.
- Purpose To assist higher education institutions in ensuring students with disabilities have the necessary assistance and equipment to access, fully participate in, and successfully complete their chosen course of study.
- What it Covers Assistive technology, personal assistants, sign-language interpreters, academic and learning support, and transport support.
- Eligibility Students with a verifiable disability attending a publicly funded course of at least one year's duration in a higher education institution.
- How to Apply Students should register with the disability or access office of their college. The college then conducts a needs assessment and applies for the funding on the student's behalf.
1916 Bursary Fund
This fund provides financial support to students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with a particular focus on those from groups under-represented in higher education, including students with disabilities.
